Gemlings are the main features and the existing creatures of Rainbowtail (Game).

Overview[]
They can be used for the levels and come in different appearances, types, traits, stats, and blast patterns. A total of 353 Gemlings were listed in Dex since the version 1.0.8.2, excluding Kid, Tyranticore and Quiroro.
However, some Gemlings aren't playable in-game like Rainbowtail and Darktail.
Rarity[]
Each Gemling has its rarity as shown as stars. The below table shows the names each of the rarities and what kind of egg a Gemling with a particular rarity will hatch from:
★☆☆☆☆ Common |
★★☆☆☆ Rare |
★★★☆☆ Very Rare |
★★★★☆ Champion |
★★★★★ Legendary |
In the Game[]
Gemling eggs can be obtained by defeating enemies from levels, or taking draws from King Bean or Robbean Hood and the obtained eggs will immediately hatch during the result page. Gemlings can be purchased directly in Shop in Gembeans.
The acquired Gemlings can be managed in Gemling Box, which allows the player to level up, evolve, or release them. The player can choose some among them as the Team members to use in the levels.
The player also can set a Gemling in team as the Leader and it will jump out at start of the level along with a Friend Leader. The Leader Gemling's Leader Skill will add special effect to all Gemlings of corresponding secondary type during the whole game.
The player can release a Gemling in Gemling Box to earn some Gembeans; the amount of benefits varies by the Gemling's rarity as shown as below:
If a Gemling is either released or used for feeding other Gemling, it will be removed from the Box permanently.
Stats[]
Each Gemling has its own base stats based on its species and the higher rarity usually possesses higher base stats.
Very Rare and lower rarities gain 1 Attack per leveling up or evolution, while the Champion and Legendary gain 2 or 3 ATK respectively instead.
Defense and Movement can only be increased by leveling up and gain 1 per lv. 1 regardless of a Gemling's rarity; and HP increases 1 per evolution only. It is yet confirmed whether the Legendary gains 2+ HP instead.
Level Up[]
Similar to the Limit Break system in Million Arthur, the player can level up a Gemling by feeding it with a stage 1 Gemling of its evolution line via a round button with two green arrows at middle left. Leveling up will increase one of the Gemling's stats randomly instantly. A Gemling can reach up to level 5.
The randomly added bonus stats can lead two same species to have different stats. For example, a Durgo (4 HP, 11 ATK, 1 DEF, 3 MOV at lv.1) may end up with [15 ATK and 3 DEF], or [7 MOV] in lv.5.
If the player have two or more same Gemlings, the oldest one in the NEW order will be used first. And stage 2-3 Gemlings cannot be used for feeding.
There is another way to level up by gaining Gem EXP by clearing the levels. The required EXPs each of rarities are shown below:
- Common: 5000
- Rare: 10000
- Very Rare: 25000
- Champion: 50000
- Legendary: 100000
Evolution[]
Gemlings can be evolved via clicking a round button with its evolved form in silhouette on middle right. The evolution improves the Gemling's Trait with Roman numeral like "Dense I" to "Dense II" and increases its stats and numbers of blast dots per evolution.
The following is tables for which evolution materials, and how many Gembeans are required in order to evolve the Gemling. The kind of Soul Gemlings depends on the primary type of the evolving Gemling:

In the Gameboard[]
Gemlings are objects in gameboard and can be used to clean objects or attack Enemies. Requires 1 Move in order to trigger a Gemling.
Each Gemling can move one block per 1 movement through movable objects such as gems or some enemies by dragging it and will unleash the blast attack when finishing the moving, but it can be undone by returning to its original place through path. It also can be blasted by double-tapping it.
Each Gemling has its stats that's interacted directly with enemy's own; it also has a trait that gives additional benefit to it passively.
Once a Gemling died in gameboard, it turns into a gravestone, which can only be cleaned by Gemling's blast.
Each blasted Gemling adds 300 scores including multiple blasts created by Chain Blast. However, a Gemling that's triggered by either moving or double-tapping will yield no score except gems cleaned by its blast.
To summon Gemlings, see this page.
Trivia[]
- The proper noun Gemling was originally nominated as one of entries for replacing the previous noun Pet in the forum on Oct. 30 2015.[1] One day later, the proper noun poll has been made in the official thread in the site Chicken Smoothie[2], then the winner was announced on Nov. 10 2015.[3]
- Before the legacy version 2.0.0, Gemlings had no movements nor stats.
- Before the legacy version 2.3.0, Gemlings had no Traits.
- Before the legacy version 2.8.3, Gemlings could not be auto-blasted by either moving or double-tapping; and they had to be blasted by being matched with gems with matching type instead.
- There were two major changes for reducing Gemlings' blast radius upon updating the whole game system, including changing their blast attack function and adding entire RPG features.
- Before the legacy version 2.2, the Gemling's blast dots were drastically less or more depending on both the stage and rarity of the Gemling. Before the legacy version 2.0, an evolved Gemling could be summoned as its current or lower stage, depending on the shape of special gem-matching pattern.
- For the whole legacy versions since the legacy version 2.2, all Gemlings' blast dots were reduced to around 8-16-20 (without dots outside the gameboard) in usual for each stage regardless of their rarity.
- Since the live version, all Gemlings' blast dots were reduced again to around 8-10-12 (without dots outside the gameboard) in usual for each stage.
