Overview
They can be used for the levels and can use blasts that depend on the Gemlings' Type and what Gemling it is. There are 353 Gemlings showcased in Dex since the version 1.0.8.2, except the Kid, Tyranticore and Quiroro.
Some Gemlings, such as Rainbowtail and Darktail are not playable in the game.
Rarity
Each Gemlings have their rarity as shown as stars. The below table indicates the names each of the rarities and what kind of egg a Gemling with particular rarity will hatch from:
★☆☆☆☆ Common |
★★☆☆☆ Rare |
★★★☆☆ Very Rare |
★★★★☆ Champion |
★★★★★ Legendary |
In the Game
The Gemlings can be obtained as Eggs which can be gained from levels by defeating Enemies. They can also be bought directly in Shop for Gembeans or take draws to get Eggs from King Bean or Robbean Hood.
The acquired Gemlings can be managed in Gemling Box, which allows the player to Level Up, evolve, or Release them. Some of them can be added to the player's Team to use in the levels.
The player also can select a Gemling in Team as Leader. The Leader Gemling gives buff by its Leader Skill (if available) and jump out at start of the level along with friend's Gemling.
The player can Release a Gemling not in Team to earn some Gembeans from it, the amount of benefits can be varied by its rarity, with given list:
When a Gemling is either fed or released, it will be removed from the Gemling Box permanently and cannot be restored in any way.
Stats
Each Gemlings have their own fixed stats by species and the higher rarity usually possesses higher stats. In case of Champions and Legendary, they gain 2/3 ATK for each per one level up unlike Very Rare or lower that just gain 1 ATK instead.
The randomly distributed points given by the Level Up (Max. 5 Level) can lead to two very different Gemlings, despite being the same species like EV system in Pokemon. However, the point doesn't invested to HP. For example, a Durgo (4 HP, 11 ATK, 1 DEF, 3 MOV at lv.1) can have 15 attack and 3 defence at lv.5, while some Durgo may have 7 movements at lv.5.
Level Up
The player can Level Up a Gemling through a round button with two green arrows at middle left. Feeding it with a stage 1 Gemling of identical family will level up it instantly by 1 like the Limit Break system in Million Arthur. When there is more than 2 Gemlings to be fed, the oldest one in NEW order will be consumed first. Note that the stage 2-3 Gemlings will not be listed to be fed. For example, just one Quirl is required for level up a Quirl, Questril or Nobril by 1.
There is another way to leveling them up by gaining gems(exp) by clearing the levels, but it requires dozen of exp to level up with following exp values for each rarity:
- Common: 5000
- Rare: 10000
- Very Rare: 25000
- Champion: 50000
- Legendary: 100000
Evolution
The Gemlings can evolve themselves through touching a round button with its evolved form in silhouette at middle right and for improve their both blast radius (usually adds 2 dots per evolution) and Trait with Roman numeral as suffix like "Dense I" to "Dense II". The bonus stats also can be added for each time they evolve: 1 HP + 1 ATK (Champion and Legendary gains 1 HP + 2 ATK or ? HP + 3 ATK for each instead).
The following are tables about which evolution materials, and how many Gembeans are required to evolve them. Note that the Soul Gemlings used as evolution materials can be varied by the primary type of the evolving Gemling:

In the Gameboard
Gemlings are the objects used to support in gameboard by using their blast to both cleaning objects and attacking Enemies. To triggering a Gemling requires 1 Move.
Each Gemling can move one block per 1 movement through movable objects such as gems or some enemies by drag it and unleash the blast attack once its moving is done; while the moving may be undone by return to its original place through path. It also can be blasted by double-tapping it (without using any movements) or receiving other Gemling's blast.
Each Gemlings have unique stats that interacts directly with enemy's own, and their own exclusive traits that boosts certain stat(s) of it passively.
Once a Gemling died in gameboard, it turns into a gravestone and it only can be cleaned by Gemling's blast.
The Gemlings also are supportive in scoring, which they give 300 scores per one successful blast of Gemling including clone(s) created by Chain Blast, except the Gemling that was triggered by either moving or double-tapping.
Regarding the Gemling summon, see this page.
Trivia
- The proper noun Gemling originally was nominated as one of entries for replacement of the previous noun Pet in the forum at Oct. 30 2015.[1] And one day later, the proper noun poll has been made in the official thread in the site Chicken Smoothie[2] and then the winner has been announced after Nov. 10th 2015.[3]
- Before the legacy version 2.0.0, the Gemling had no ability to move through movable objects, nor had their own movements.
- Before the legacy version 2.8.3, the Gemling was blasted by being matched with gems with proper type and was unable to auto-blast by either the end of moving or double-touching.
- There were two major revampments for reducing Gemling's blast radius upon updating the whole game system, including changing their blast attack function and adding entire RPG features.
- Before the legacy version 2.2, the Gemling's blast dots were drastically less or more by both stage and rarity as there were no roleplaying features, movements and Special Moves to determine their detail performance. Also, a same Gemling had to be summoned with its different stages up to a particular shape of the special pattern, before the legacy version 2.0.
- During the whole legacy version after the legacy version 2.2, all Gemlings' blast dots were reduced to around 8-16-20 (within the gameboard) in usual for each stage regardless of their rarity since the Gemling's movements allowing the player to partially handle a whole gameboard and the stats and traits can now determine each rarity's performance without giving a penalty to their blast radius.
- Since the live version, all Gemlings' blast dots were reduced again to around 8-10-12 (within the gameboard) in usual for each stage since the auto-blast by either moving or double-touching a Gemling since the legacy version 2.8.3 allowed the player to reduce the random variable for clearing a level.
